Comments and Description Text from UniProtKB
ID:TKN4_HUMAN DESCRIPTION: RecName: Full=Tachykinin-4; AltName: Full=Preprotachykinin-C; Short=PPT-C; Contains: RecName: Full=Endokinin-A; Short=EKA; Contains: RecName: Full=Endokinin-A/B; Short=EKA/B; Contains: RecName: Full=Endokinin-C; Short=EKC; Flags: Precursor; FUNCTION: Tachykinins are active peptides which excite neurons, evoke behavioral responses, are potent vasodilators and secretagogues, and contract (directly or indirectly) many smooth muscles. Endokinin-A induces thermal hyperalgesia and pain-related behavior such as scratching following intrathecal administration in rats. These effects are suppressed by treatment with endokinin- C. Endokinin-A/B reduces arterial blood pressure and increases sperm motility. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted (Probable). TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed at low levels in the uterus of both pregnant and non-pregnant women. Isoform 1 is found only in the adrenal gland and fetal liver. Isoform 2 is found in heart, liver, bone marrow, prostate, adrenal gland and testis. Isoform 3 and isoform 4 are expressed predominantly in adrenal gland and placenta. SIMILARITY: Belongs to the tachykinin family. SEQUENCE CAUTION: Sequence=AAI00841.1; Type=Miscellaneous discrepancy; Note=Intron retention; Sequence=AAI00843.1; Type=Miscellaneous discrepancy; Note=Intron retention; Sequence=AAI00844.1; Type=Miscellaneous discrepancy; Note=Intron retention; Sequence=AAN77128.1; Type=Miscellaneous discrepancy; Note=Intron retention; Sequence=EAW94657.1; Type=Erroneous gene model prediction;

The pictures above may be empty if there is no ModBase structure for the protein. The ModBase structure frequently covers just a fragment of the protein. You may be asked to log onto ModBase the first time you click on the pictures. It is simplest after logging in to just click on the picture again to get to the specific info on that model.
